Email (SMTP): send site email through your own mail server
The Email (SMTP) tool (Baza Helper > Email (SMTP), a Pro tool) sends the site’s email, such as orders, bookings, password resets and forms, through your own mail server instead of the web host’s mail function, so it reaches the inbox.
Set it up
- Switch on Send email through this server.
- Fill Server, for example smtp.gmail.com, smtp.office365.com, smtp.sendgrid.net or smtp.mailgun.org.
- Choose Port and Encryption: 587 with TLS (STARTTLS), 465 with SSL, 25 without encryption.
- Switch on The server asks for a login and enter Username and Password. Gmail and Microsoft accounts need an app password.
- Fill the sender: From email (usually the login address, many servers refuse any other) and From name. Use this sender for every email, even when a plugin sets its own forces it.
- Save.
The password is stored encrypted. To keep it out of the database, define BAZA_HELPER_SMTP_PASS in wp-config.php.
Send a test
Save the settings first, because the test uses what is saved. Type an address in Send the test to and press Send test email. If it fails, The last email was not sent shows what the mail server answered. A wrong port for the encryption (587 with TLS, 465 with SSL) or a wrong login are the usual reasons. The message goes away when the next email is sent.
