Site icon and web app manifest

The Site icon & manifest tool (Baza Helper > Site Icon & Manifest) turns one image into every icon a site needs: the browser favicon, the iPhone home screen icon, Android icons and the web app manifest.

Upload the icon

  1. Open Favicon and Site Icon and press Upload site icon.
  2. Choose a raster image at least 512 x 512 px, or a static SVG up to 256 KB. The original is preserved.
  3. Save. Baza Helper generates all sizes and shows them under Generated icon previews, with a label that explains where each icon is used.

Remove site icon takes the icon away.

Icon appearance

Light and dark refer to the browser interface. Save to regenerate all icons with the settings you choose.

  • Light appearance and Dark appearance let you give each scheme its own artwork colour, so the icon stays visible on a dark browser tab.
  • Icon background with a Transparent background switch.
  • SVG artwork color with Recolor SVG artwork. SVG colours can be kept or replaced. Raster artwork keeps its own colours.
  • Artwork inset (%) from 0 to 30 percent adds space around the artwork in the home screen and app icons.

The preview shows the Automatic appearance variant, and Open file opens a generated file.

Web app manifest

Switch on Generate web app manifest and fill in:

  • Application name and Short application name,
  • Theme color and Application background color,
  • Application display mode: Browser, Standalone or Minimal UI.

No service worker is installed. A manifest alone does not guarantee that a phone offers to install the site as an app.

If another plugin owns the manifest

When a theme or another plugin already prints a manifest, you can tell Baza Helper with the baza_helper_manifest_external_owner filter. Even if this tool is switched off on the dashboard, its SVG sanitizer still protects SVG uploads.
