Link checker: fix wrong-language and outdated internal links

The Link checker (Baza Helper > Link checker) finds links in your content that point to the wrong language version of a page, or to an address that has since changed, and fixes them in one click. It only works with links to your own site.

Run a scan

  1. Open the Link checker tab.
  2. Press Scan content. Posts are read in batches and the tab shows the progress.
  3. Read the table: Post, Link, Problem and Suggestion. The problem is either Points to another language or The address is out of date.
  4. Press Fix on one row, or Fix all. Edit post opens the post when you want to decide yourself.

What it finds

  • Links to the wrong language. With Polylang or WPML it notices when a French page links to the English version although a French translation exists.
  • Out-of-date addresses that still name exactly one page, for example after a slug changed. If an old address could mean more than one page, the checker leaves it for you to decide.
  • Links in custom fields of builders, such as Elementor, Carbon Fields and ACF, not only in the main text.

Good to know

  • The checker changes only the link address. The visible link text stays as you wrote it.
  • Which post types are scanned can be changed with the baza_helper_link_checker_post_types filter.
  • When nothing is wrong the tab says No wrong links found. Where a link has no translation to switch to, the row says so and the fix is not offered.
  • Run the scan again after a language or slug change, after importing content and after a migration.
