Coming Soon Page for WordPress: Setup and Safe Preview

The Coming soon page gives visitors a finished standalone page while you build or update the real WordPress site. Editors can continue working normally, and search engines can be told that the interruption is temporary.

The page is generated by Baza Helper with inline styles and no request to another server. It is separate from your theme, so an unfinished layout is not exposed.

Where to find it

Open Baza Helper > Developer > Coming soon page. The tool is available in every build and is off by default.

Set up the page

Step 1: Enable “Show the coming soon page to visitors”

Enable “Show the coming soon page to visitors”.

Step 2: Keep “503

Keep “503: the site is temporarily down, come back later” unless you deliberately want an ordinary 200 response.

Step 3: Leave “People who can edit posts see the

Leave “People who can edit posts see the site as usual” enabled so editors can work on the real site.

Step 4: Write the title and text

Write the title and text. The built-in fallback is “The site is being built” with a short return-soon message.

Step 5: Optionally add button text and an address

Optionally add button text and an address. The button appears only when both fields are filled. The address may be a page, mailto: or tel:.

Step 6: Press “Save changes” , then use “Open the

Press “Save changes”, then use “Open the page” to check the result.

Choose the response for search engines

  • 503, recommended: sends Retry-After: 3600, no-cache headers and noindex, nofollow. Search engines are told to keep what they already know and return later.
  • 200: serves the coming soon screen as an ordinary page. Use it only when you do not need search engines to treat the interruption as temporary.

Preview and temporary access

  • “Open the page” lets an administrator preview the coming soon screen even while it is disabled.
  • The Preview key creates a private link that shows the real site to anyone who opens it for one week, without an account.
  • Change the Preview key to cancel previously shared links. The key is generated on the first save when the field is empty.

Multilingual text

On a multilingual site, each detected Polylang or WPML language gets its own Title, Text, Button text and Button address. An empty language uses the default-language text, then the first completed language, then the built-in fallback.

Logo and appearance

  • “Show the site logo” uses the custom logo, or the site icon when no logo is available. It is enabled by default.
  • Default colours are background #f6f6f4, text #111111 and button #ffe050.
  • An optional media-library image can be used as the background. With an image, the plugin adds a dark overlay and uses white text.

What is bypassed and what is cleared

  • The page is not shown in wp-admin, AJAX, WP-Cron, REST, WP-CLI, robots.txt, favicon requests, the Customizer or Elementor previews.
  • Turning the feature on or off clears Baza Helper page and static caches, so an old cached version cannot hide or keep the coming soon page.
  • An admin-bar warning and the Activity tab report when the coming soon page is active.

For developers

The settings are stored in baza_helper_coming_soon. Use baza_helper_coming_soon_active to decide the active state in code and baza_helper_coming_soon_html to filter the finished HTML.

Frequently asked questions

Logged-in users who can edit posts bypass the page when that option is enabled. A valid preview-link cookie also shows the real site for one week.

503 tells search engines that the interruption is temporary and asks them to return later. A 200 response looks like an ordinary replacement page.

Both Button text and Button address must be filled. The address must use an allowed page, http, https, mailto or tel format.

No. Baza Helper returns a standalone page with its own inline styles, logo or site icon, text and optional background image.
