Content Review Setup: Connect an AI Assistant
Content Review lets an AI assistant prepare changes to your articles, products and pages. You stay in control: the assistant only sends proposals, and nothing changes until you press Apply on the Content Review screen. This guide sets up the connection step by step. It takes about ten minutes.
What the setup gives the assistant
- Read access to your posts, pages and products in every language, with the block markup.
- The ability to send proposals. It cannot publish, delete or change anything directly.
- A separate WordPress user with the Editor role, which you can remove at any time.
Before you start
- Baza Helper with Content Review on the site.
- HTTPS on the site. Application Passwords are available only on HTTPS.
- Administrator access to WordPress.
- A computer with a terminal and an AI assistant that can run commands or send web requests, for example Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI.
Step by step
Step 1: Open the Setup tab
In the WordPress admin menu open Baza Helper, choose Content Review and then the Setup tab. The tab shows the address of the API, the status of Application Passwords and the steps below. If Application Passwords are switched off, the tab says so: enable them first or ask your host.
Step 2: Create a separate user for the assistant
Go to Users > Add New, fill in the name and the e-mail, and choose the role Editor. Do not use your own account: this user can be deleted later, and the access goes away with it.
Step 3: Make an Application Password for that user
Open the new user, scroll to Application Passwords, type a name, for example content-review, and press Add New Application Password. Copy the password at once: WordPress shows it only once.
Step 4: Give the sign-in to your terminal
Open a terminal on your computer and set two values. The user name is the one in the Username column of the Users list. The password is typed hidden and lives only in this terminal window. On macOS or Linux:
export BAZA_CR_USER='user-name-here'
printf 'Application Password: '; stty -echo; read BAZA_CR_PASSWORD; stty echo; echo; export BAZA_CR_PASSWORDOn Windows, use PowerShell: $env:BAZA_CR_USER = "user-name-here" and $env:BAZA_CR_PASSWORD = Read-Host "Application Password". Never give the password to the chat or write it into a file.
Step 5: Check the connection
In the same terminal, check that the values are set. The user name should show, and the password should show only as the hidden prompt. If the assistant later reports that it cannot sign in, the most common cause is a wrong user name or a password copied with a space.
Step 6: Open your AI assistant in the right place
- Claude Code or Codex: in the same terminal, go to the folder where you work and start the assistant. It will read the environment values you set in step 4.
- Cursor: open the chat panel. Make sure the terminal you use to start Cursor has the values from step 4, or give the assistant the values only through the terminal, never in the chat.
- Gemini CLI: start it in the terminal after step 4, in the folder where you work.
Step 7: Give the assistant the prompt and your task
Copy the prompt from the Setup tab and paste it into the assistant. Replace the last paragraph with the task, for example “Find the posts without an SEO description and propose a short one for each.” The site address is already filled in. The assistant first reads the content, then sends its proposals.
Step 8: Review the proposals
Open Content Review and look at the Waiting for a decision list. Open each proposal, check the change, then press Apply or Reject. Check a few before you use Apply all.
Step 9: Close the access when you are done
Close the terminal window. Then, in the user profile, revoke the Application Password, or delete the user. Next time, make a new password.
Common problems
- The assistant cannot sign in: check the user name and the password. Make a new Application Password if the old one is lost.
- Application Passwords are off: enable them, or ask your host. The plugin cannot work without them.
- The site has no HTTPS: Application Passwords need HTTPS. Turn it on first.
When the setup is done once, you can repeat the task with the same user and a new password whenever you need it.
