WooCommerce helpers: a faster shop and fewer chores

When WooCommerce is active, the Helpers tab of Baza Helper (Baza Helper > Helpers) shows ten extra switches for a shop. Without WooCommerce they are not shown. Every switch is off by default and is one checkbox. Turn on one, save, check the shop, then turn on the next.

Speed

  • WooCommerce files only where they are needed: the styles and scripts of WooCommerce load on the shop, product, cart, checkout and account pages, and on a page that holds a product shortcode or block. Everywhere else they are left out. Risk: a page that shows products in a special way, such as a builder widget or a custom template, can lose its style. Check those pages. A developer can keep more pages with the filter baza_helper_woo_assets_keep.
  • No cart fragments request: WooCommerce normally asks the server for the contents of the mini cart on every page. With this on, the request is made only on the cart and checkout pages. Risk: a mini cart or a cart counter in the header no longer updates by itself. Leave it off if your site shows one.

Translations

  • Stock and price in every language: in a shop with translated products (Polylang or WPML), a change of the stock, the stock status, the price, the sale price or the sale dates of a product is copied to its translations, so a sale in one language does not sell what is gone in another. Risk: the copy overwrites the prices of the translations. Use it only when prices are the same in every language.

Orders and the cart

  • Complete virtual orders at once: an order whose products are all virtual and downloadable (a file, a course) becomes completed as soon as it is paid, so the customer gets the download without waiting. An order with a physical product is not touched.
  • Empty cart goes to the shop: a visitor who opens an empty cart is taken to the shop page instead of a dead end.
  • Buy goes straight to the checkout: after a product is added, the visitor goes to the checkout without the cart page. The add to cart link in the shop list stops adding by Ajax. Risk: a customer cannot add several products one after another without going back. It suits a shop that sells a few products.
  • Out of stock products last: in the shop and in the categories, products that are out of stock go to the end of the list, whatever the sort order.

Admin and cleanup

  • No WooCommerce promotions in the admin: switches off the marketplace suggestions, the marketing hub, the extension offers and the payment suggestions. Orders, products and reports stay.
  • Daily WooCommerce cleanup: once a day removes expired customer sessions and WooCommerce log files older than 30 days, which pile up on a busy shop. The files are deleted for good.
  • Product picture alt from the product name: a product picture with no alt text gets the product name as its alt text on the page. The picture in the media library is not changed.

Not included

There is no switch for a minimum order amount: a helper is one checkbox, and an amount needs a field. Try new switches on a copy of the shop first, especially the first two.
