Prepayment and Deposits
A deposit lets a client secure a booking by paying only part of the price now. You choose whether the deposit is a percentage or a fixed amount, and the booking form offers it as a checkbox.
Where to find it
Open Settings, then Payments, then the Prepayment tab.
Turn it on
Tick Allow prepayment, then pick the Prepayment type:
- Percent: the deposit is a share of the booking price. Set it in Prepayment percentage, from 10 to 100 in steps of 5.
- Fix sum: the deposit is one amount for every booking. Enter it in Fixed prepayment amount.
The deposit is offered only when prepayment is allowed and a type is chosen.
What the client sees
The booking form gets a checkbox with the deposit in its label, for example Make a deposit 30% or, for a fixed amount, Make a deposit followed by the amount. A client who ticks it pays the deposit now. A client who leaves it unticked pays the full price.
The words can be changed in the plugin’s text editor.
Offer the deposit by default
Switch on Offer the deposit by default and the checkbox starts ticked, so a partial payment is offered instead of paying in full. The client can still untick it.
Same-day bookings
A booking made today for today leaves no time to collect the rest before it starts. Switch on Full payment for same-day bookings and the deposit option is hidden for such bookings, so the full amount is charged.
Change the button text
Booking button text rules change the text of the Book now button depending on the checkboxes the client ticks. Press Add rule, choose a trigger (Default, Partial payment or Use balance) and type the Button text. For example, a rule for Partial payment can make the button invite the client to pay the deposit.
After the deposit is paid
The booking records what was paid and shows what remains as Remaining payment. If Accounting is switched on, the payment is recorded as Booking Prepayment.
